TURMERIC FACE CLEANSER TO MAKE YOUR SKIN FAIR AND FLAWLESS

This turmeric mask can also help with reducing the inflammation and redness for those with eczema.

 Of course, we recommend that you check in with your doctor before trying this mask on very sensitive skin or before using it on children.

 Turmeric has multiple benefits and we can use this tuber in multiple ways. But, for now, let’s narrow down on one of its essential uses as a cleanser.

 Cleansing is the first and the most important step in any skin care regime. It’s during cleansing that you gently remove all the dirt, impurities, and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.

 Turmeric can be used as a cleanser, which can help us obtain skin which is fair and flawless. This is the ultimate spice you can use to treat all your skin worries. Let’s have a look at how we can use turmeric as an everyday cleanser.

Pick your favorite from the list given below.

1. Cleansing With Turmeric And Milk

You’ll Need:
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1-2 teaspoon of milk or heavy milk cream
Preparation:
  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to obtain a lump-free paste.
  • Keep it in the fridge to cool for five minutes.
  • Wash your face with a mild soap or face wash.
  • Then apply this paste on your face and neck.
  • Leave it on for 20-30 minutes until the paste begins to dry completely.
  • Splash some lukewarm water on your face and slowly rub the mask off with the tips of your fingers.
  • Rinse your face with water and pat it dry.
  • You can do this 2-3 times in a week for best results.
 This combination of turmeric and milk is the easiest cleanser you can make and use at home.

Because of the easy availability of both ingredients, many opt for this. However, we’d suggest you use heavy milk cream, if available, instead of normal milk.

 Here, milk is considered a wholesome moisturizer as it’s composed of water, proteins, and fat which can replenish the lost natural moisture of the skin (1).

 Turmeric, on the other hand, soothes the skin and slows down the aging process (2).

2. Removing Tan With Turmeric And Orange Peel

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Preparation:
    • In a grinder, add the above ingredients and blend them together. The mixture needs to be a little creamy in texture. Apply the mixture on your face and neck and leave it on for at least 30 minutes.
    • Rinse it off once it’s dried and pat your face dry.
    • You can do this 2-3 times in a week to change your oily skin back to its normal self.

    The combination of aloe and turmeric is very beneficial to oily skin as these two ingredients have the potential to normalize the production of sebum, an oily substance produced on the surface of our skin (4).

     The mixture also kills any harmful bacteria present on the skin. Lemon juice, on the other hand, lightens the skin tone or the dark spots of the skin. This pack helps rejuvenate the skin.

    Turmeric face masks have been used for centuries in Ayurveda to clear the skin and restore its glowing looks.

    The potential of this curry spice is now turning it into a trend among those looking to improve their skin complexion using natural ingredients and many are falling in love with these yellow glowing masks.

    Turmeric and honey face mask

    Honey and turmeric have both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. When combined with the lactic acid from the milk, these ingredients help to clear the skin from irritants, thus reducing blemishes and also clearing pimples and acne.

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 tbsp. of honey;
    • 1/2 tbsp. of whole milk;
    • 1 tsp. of turmeric.

    Directions

    Combine all the ingredients in a bowl until getting a slightly thick paste. Apply the mask to the face using a brush.

    Let it sit for 20 minutes before removing it with warm water.

    All-in-one mask

    This mask follows the same three-ingredient base of most turmeric face masks: this spice, honey and lactic acid (yogurt). Together they provide an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect that clears the skin from any irritations and blemishes.

    Honey is also very nourishing and moisturizing, leaving the skin feeling smoother and brighter while purifying it.

    The apple cider vinegar is astringent and will help to balance the skin oils. It is also good to treat acne and pimples.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tsp. of Greek yogurt, unsweetened;
    • 1/2 tsp. of honey;
    • 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder;
    • A few drops of apple cider vinegar.

    Directions

    Combine the ingredients in a bowl until well mixed. Cleanse and dry your face and apply the mask with a brush. Avoid the area around the eyes.

    Let it sit for 15 minutes and removes with warm water.

    Moisturizing mask for oily skin

    This recipe is very similar to the previous one, with the lemon replacing the apple cider vinegar but maintaining the same purpose.

    The main difference is in the use of flour or cornstarch that help to absorb the oil excess from the skin without drying it or removing other nutrients in the process.

    Ingredients

    • 2 tbsp. of flour or cornstarch;
    • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder;
    • 2-3 drops of raw honey or Manuka honey;
    • 1/4 cup of yogurt, plain and unsweetened;
    • 4 drops of lemon juice.

    Direction

    Stir the flour and the turmeric powder together in a dry bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and combine until forming a thick paste.

    Apply the mask and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Remove with warm water and a wet washcloth.

    Glowing face mask

    Lemon juice has a high content of vitamin C, which inhibits the production of melanin and brightens the skin. The Manuka honey is more nutritive than regular varieties and it deeply nourishes the skin to leave it smoother and stronger.

    Together with the turmeric powder and the lemon, this honey also helps to clear inflammations and irritations.

    Oats are also moisturizing but, in this case, their main role is that of a gentle exfoliator that enhances the absorption of the face mask.

    Ingredients

    • 3 tbsp. of rolled oats;
    • 1 tbsp. of Manuka honey;
    • 1/2 of turmeric powder;
    • 1 lemon juice, freshly squeezed.

    Combine all the ingredients very well in a dry bowl. Apply the mask to a clean and dry face. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Remove with warm water and a washcloth.

    Mask for a clear skin

    Gram or chickpea flour helps to control the secretion of oils and absorb their excess, leaving the skin clearer but not dry. It also works as a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin, debris and other impurities from the pores.

    The turmeric powder and the rose water have both anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that help stabilize the skin after the flour effect.

    Ingredients

    1. 1 tbsp. of turmeric powder;
    2. 2 tbsp. of gram flour;
    3. 2 tbsp. of rose water.

    Directions

    Mix all the ingredients in a dry bowl until achieving a lightweight paste. Cleanse the skin with a mild cleanser and apply the mask. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Remove with cold water. Pat dry the skin.

    How to use

    Never apply any turmeric face masks on the skin around the eyes. This area is very sensitive, more prone to become irritated and also more easily stained.

    Also, never let the mask sit for more than 20 minutes. This is enough time for its properties to work and leave it in for longer increases the chances of staining. If you’re using your hands to apply the mask, remember to wear gloves or it will be very hard to remove the yellow-orange stains from your mani.

    Some people apply turmeric face masks every day without any problem. However, the recommended recurrence if of 2 to 3 times per week to reduce the risk of staining.

    Benefits of turmeric for the skin

    Turmeric is the central ingredient in these masks thanks to the powerful properties of curcumin, the antioxidant that gives it its bright yellow color. Several scientific studies have already produced indications of the benefits of curcumin and turmeric for the skin, proving that these masks are indeed effective.

    Anti-inflammatory

    Curcumin presents important anti-inflammatory effects. Not only does it help soothe any skin irritations, but it also speeds up the recovery time of wounds, scar tissue formation, and even the regeneration of the skin due to sunburn.

    Wound healing

    According to a 2007 study, curcumin can enhance wound healing while, simultaneously, offering anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protection to the skin.

    This double effect of protection and healing also translates into a better deposition of collagen and increased fibroblast density, which contributes to the delay of aging signs.

    Skin disorders

    Due to its anti-inflammatory effect, turmeric can help treat several skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, scleroderma and acne.

    Anti-aging

    Inflammations strain the skin and exert pressure over its resources, leading to early aging signs. Turmeric can then help delay the appearance of these signs due to the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin.

    Furthermore, it is also rich in antioxidants that prevent the damages caused by free radicals to healthy cells.
